Team Project:
Gnomeageddon
Gnomeageddon is a 2D Real-Time Strategy game, mimicking Plants vs. Zombies. The player must deploy garden gnomes to destroy their neighbor's lawn, and win the "Best Lawn Award." Three gnome types exist: The Pawn Gnome, the Rolley Gnomey, and Wizard Gnome. Each is weak or strong to another gnome (rock, paper, scissors design).
Gnomeageddon was a finalist in the Indie Level Up 2011 Competition.
My Role: At the beginning of the project, I was only a Level Designer. About midway through the project, our team lead got really sick and needed someone to take over as Team Lead. I stepped in and took over the project, which meant I now was Scrum Master and the person doing most of the documentation.
As far as my Level Design work, this game involved me balancing out the Gnomes so players could use more strategies when fighting our waves of enemy gnomes. For instance, the Rolley Gnomey is weak to the Wizard Gnome. But against 8+ Pawn Gnomes stacked together, he is also weak. Players loved to spam the Pawn Gnome spawn button to do this, so I wanted to make sure it was not too powerful for the rest of the game's mechanics.
